April

My music influence comes first from country music. When I was around 3 years old my step dad used to teach me the words to the songs. That was all I knew of music till I got to elementary school and had my first music class, I sang at a few school performances but we didn't have a choir at my school. Then in middle school I joined the choir and went out for the advanced choir and was one of three sixth graders to even make it.

I eventually started listening to top 40, and then rock music, then rap, and finally came back to top 40 and alternative as my favorite genres. My favorites back then would have to be Mariah Carey, and Boys to Men. I adored them, and still think they have amazing talent. In high school I took a two year break from choir, then finally realized that I missed singing and eventually ended my last two years with choir. My new idol then became Christina Aguilera for her amazing vocals. Spending most of my years singing country and gospel music I developed more of a soulful full singing voice, without the country twang.

I began to appreciate almost all types of music but alternative was still my favorite. In college I didn't take any music classes but was devoted to cheer leading more so. Then I came to Dallas and started going out with friends and found a new love, dance music. I love trance and break beats and one of my favorite djs is ATB, I absolutely fell in love with his music it takes me away. Someone that I went to high school introduced me to the local DJ Raydar at insomnia, I sang for him outside the club one day and the rest is history. I absolutely love Ray and Shaolin, and everything they stand for when it comes to the music, that's what it is all about in the end. Presently I listen to more rock now and hope to break into that one day, or at least try it out. But I love what Dance music represents....Individuality to be who you are and not be expected to belong to any group.
